Hey!
I'm Luca, an AI enthusiast and a second-year Master's student in Artificial Intelligence at the University of Amsterdam, building upon a Bachelor's in Computer Science and Engineering from Delft University of Technology. My research focus is centred around Graph Representational Learning, exploring its applications in Geometric Deep Learning, Pandemic Forecasting, Quantum Chemistry, Recommender Systems and Fairness in AI.
My journey has been marked by meaningful experiences that shaped my understanding of the fundamentals of AI and its applications. I've had the opportunity to work on a variety of research projects, including a fairness-enhanced graph algorithm project, which was awarded a Kaggle grant of $10,000 (open-source notebook), and a diffusion-based graph recommender systems project. Both projects were accepted as posters at NeurIPS 2023 (more info on the Projects page). Right now I am working under the supervision of Rob Romijnders and Dr. Yuki M. Asano on a spatial-temporal graph neural network approach for decentralised contact tracing.
In addition to research, I've had the chance to turn theoretical into practical as a Chief Engineer for TU Delft's AI Student Team, where I led our team to a top-10 finish in the AWS DeepRacer RL Challenge. I've also worked as a System Integration Engineer at Yes!Delft Impact Lab, where I worked on integrating a sensors on a SPOT Boston Dynamics to automate construction site inspections for a major construction company in the Netherlands. These experiences have fueled my passion for the practical applications of AI, and its responsible and impactful deployment in various sectors.
Away from AI, I love mountain biking and traveling. Whether it's exploring a new trail or algorithm, I am driven by discovery and innovation. 🚀
